When closer monitoring helps

- Gestational diabetes and pre-existing diabetes
- High blood pressure, pre-eclampsia and PIH
- Twin and multiple pregnancy
- Previous caesarean section or uterine surgery
- Recurrent pregnancy loss or previous preterm birth
- Placenta praevia and other placental concerns
- Thyroid, cardiac, renal and autoimmune conditions
- Intrauterine growth restriction
- Rh-negative pregnancy and isoimmunisation
- Pregnancy after 35, and pregnancy after fertility treatment
How high-risk care runs at Sangita
Care begins with a full assessment: your history, current pregnancy and any condition that predates it. From that, your obstetrician sets a monitoring schedule, which usually means more frequent visits and more frequent scans than the standard eight antenatal visits.
Because sonography, colour Doppler and pathology are all in-house, a scan or a blood test does not mean another appointment somewhere else. Results come back the same day and the plan is adjusted on the spot. Growth scans, Doppler studies of blood flow to the baby, and serial monitoring are done in the same building where you will deliver.
A delivery plan is agreed in advance rather than improvised: mode of delivery, timing, who needs to be present, and what happens if the plan has to change. The paediatric and anaesthetic panel is briefed ahead of time, and the operation theatre and neonatal support are on site.
Common questions
Does high-risk mean something is wrong?
No. It means your pregnancy has one or more factors that warrant closer monitoring. Many high-risk pregnancies proceed to a normal delivery. The label changes how closely we watch, not the likely outcome.
Will I need more scans?
Usually yes. Growth scans and Doppler studies are scheduled more frequently so that any change is picked up early. Sonography with colour Doppler is in-house, so scans happen at the same visit.
Will I still be able to have a normal delivery?
Often, yes. Mode of delivery is decided on the evidence as the pregnancy progresses, not fixed at booking. Your obstetrician will discuss the plan with you and explain what would change it.
Who else will be involved in my care?
Alongside your obstetrician, the hospital's radiologist, anaesthetists and paediatricians are briefed as part of the delivery plan. Where a medical condition needs it, we coordinate with your existing physician.
